Job Overview: The Programs Specialist will assist with logistical planning, implementing, and executing successful programs to audiences of all ages and establishes community outreach initiatives relevant to Ho?okata ?i and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.Develop, plan, and implement onsite programs, camps, and workshops for SMSC members of all ages, abilities, and skills. This includes consultant vetting and negotiation, agreement administration, supplies procurement, day of program set up, execution, and take down.

Job Requirements:

Reflects MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE required in order to meet the expectations of this job:

  • Knowledge of Dakota history and culture obtained through coursework or other experience.
  • Bachelors' degree preferred in American Indian Studies, American Indian History, education, or
    equivalent experience in Dakota cultural education programs.
  • 1-2 years' experience in programming at a multidisciplinary museum or similar cultural organization.
  • Knowledge of education program development.
  • Excellent public speaking, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
  • A valid driver's license is required with good driving record.
