JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Counseling and Wellness Center's Counselor reports to the Director of the Counseling and Wellness Center and will provide services to encourage, support and assist Paine College students in dealing with concerns that may impact their academic performance. This will include, but is not limited to: individual counseling, mediation, disability services. providing mental health related workshops/programming, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* To provide counseling for students experiencing mental health concerns, relational issues, academic challenges, and/or behavioral problems.

* Develop and provide workshops and/or training sessions for faculty, staff, and students on various mental health and wellness topics.

* Provide students with referrals to other health professionals as well as to other resources in the community.

* Establish and maintain student files as necessary.

* Evenings and weekends may be required.

* Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

* Master's Degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work. Experience working with addiction/substance abuse populations is a plus.

* Two or more years of experience working in a college or university counseling center is preferred.

* Strong organizational and administrative skills are required. Candidates must be able to effectively communicate with both students and colleagues as well as interact with internal and external constituents.

* Strong computer skills desired.
