Equipment Operator


Job Details

High school diploma or equivalency thereof. Must have experience in heavy equipment and must be mechanically inclined. Must have mathematical skills in order to figure slope, grade and other calculations. Must possess a valid Driver's License. Must be physically capable of manual work and able to lift at least 100 pounds.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Excavate trenches for installation of all types and sizes of pipe.

Excavate trenches to proper OSHA safety standards and specifications.

Work with trench boxes, shoring and slope as needed to protect pipe layers and material in open trench.

Excavate cuts to proper elevation and slopes according to plans and grade staking.

Have a workable understanding of grades and alignment for pipe placement and be able to set structures to proper grade and alignment.

Read and understand plans and specifications.

Keep materials neatly and safely stockpiled.

Be able to load and unload productively, efficiently and safely.

Load and unload equipment, pipe and other materials on and off trucks safely.

Backfill or compact to support pipe crew.

Operate machine consistent with company safety policies as well as any rules and

Regulations required by state and federal safety standards.

Possess training or certification required in certain operations or be willing to acquire training or certification.

Oil, grease or otherwise service and make necessary adjustments or repairs to equipment.

Keep equipment clean and in good working condition. Report need for repairs to the

Supervisor or shop immediately.

Complete necessary paperwork regarding repairs or hour and miles on a daily basis.

Other duties as assigned.
