Purchasing Assistant

OVERVIEW:

The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for ensuring an adequate supply of assigned commodities to support Production and service needs. The Purchasing Assistant will support the Buyer in the purchase of goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery to ensure continuity of supply. You should be reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards and be willing to learn and improve. We also expect you to be a good team player.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Procure goods and services at lowest total cost.
  • Purchase order management.
  • Ensure timely availability of appropriate materials.
  • Expedite critical parts to meet Production builds.
  • Assist in following up on past due PO's and shortages.
  • Identify and drive inventory and cost reduction activities as well as second sourcing.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Work with logistics coordinator to ensure materials arrive timely and with the warehouse receiving team.
  • Process key department reports are used to drive the process and distribute as necessary.
  • Create standardized reports and distribute them as appropriate.
  • Able to work with Accounts Payable and reconcile invoicing discrepancies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing MRP/ERP
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
