The Financial Controller position, reporting to the CFO is accountable for leading the Finance/Accounting initiatives for a multi-location international distributor.

This role's duties will require leading with integrity and reliability and having the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality, and accountability. This position is for a creative collaborator with a talent for challenging the status quo, unique ideas, and influence.

The Controller oversees a business's day-to-day financial operations. Most of the Controller s time is spent on traditional duties such as closing the books and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will be able to work at a detailed level, understanding every nuance of the accounting process and the transactional data in the general ledger, financial statements and compliance documents while also think strategically to help the company achieve its short- and long-term goals.

The role is located on the North Shore- MA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct corporate accounting as well as mentor the growing accounting team
  • Initiate, manage and execute the month-end and year -end close and consolidated financial reporting under US GAAP, including journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses, with a focus on streamlining processes, driving efficiencies and automation
  • Manage internal controls and compliance reporting
  • Oversee inventory management and reconciliations/analytics
  • Maintain and oversee the various locations fixed assets and applicable depreciation reporting
  • Preparation of detailed weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual management reports (including income statements, balance sheets and cash flows) based on multi locations and analysis of the same to drive data-driven decision making
  • Assist CFO with developing budgets based on revenue/cost centers and monitor/analyze monthly
  • Manage external auditor relationship and ensure smooth conduct of audit process for US and SGP entities
  • Overseeing AR, AP, and accounting teams
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Maintain rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and full year cash flow outlook focusing on working capital and opportunities to improve
  • Continuous process improvement and building efficiency/cost management
  • Assist CFO with special projects when needed
  • Financial compliance across all locations
  • Lead the continuous improvement of Accounting and Financial Processes and the development of the team with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output
  • Develop and oversee accounting policies and procedures to meet both current and future business models
  • Maintain and direct the quarterly commission calculation and auditing of sales team KPI s
  • Responsible for the filing of various property and local tax returns
  • Oversee and develop cash flow management forecasting and weekly cash flow reporting.
  • Ensure the team delivers the highest standard of departmental, cross-departmental, and cross foundation teamwork and customer service
  • Develop regular reporting and analysis, including key metrics reports, and conduct ad hoc financial analysis as required
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
  • CPA/CMA preferred
  • Bachelor s in Accounting/ Finance. Public Accounting experience a plus
  • 10+ years working knowledge in accounting, finance, inventory, cash, and systems
  • Experience consolidating multi-facility or business units preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, a collaborative style and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively within time constraints
  • Ability and willingness to meet business-critical deadlines
  • High attention to detail
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
  • Advanced Excel Skills
