Manages NRMCA's policy, political and member engagement program; supports EVP, Government Affairs.

SUMMARY:

- The Manager of Government Affairs will support the efforts of NRMCA's Government Affairs department by monitoring and reporting on legislation, engaging with NRMCA's member companies, participating in direct issue advocacy, and supporting the Executive Vice President of Government Affairs.

KEY RESPONSILIBILTIES:

- Monitor and report on legislation and policies impacting the ready mixed concrete industry

- Research, formulate and draft legislative proposals and advocate

- Participate in and represent the association at coalition meetings and fundraisers

- Support industry fly-ins and NRMCA member engagement in policy and political process

- Engage with Members of Congress and Congressional staff in an effective and professional manner

- Facilitate grassroots and grasstops engagement efforts of NRMCA leadership, including action alerts, facility tours and in-district meetings

- Conduct issue-based research and writing, including drafting issue papers, letters, reports and updates for a range of audiences

- Perform legislative research and analysis, monitor committee and floor activity

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Desire to be part of a team that serves the ready mixed concrete industry

- Relevant experience on Capitol Hill or lobbying

- Practical knowledge of the legislative process

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and manage workload

- Knowledge of federal legislative procedures and personnel

DESIRED SKILLS:

- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills

- Punctuality to and preparedness for meetings

- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products

- Ability to think outside the box and be creative

EDUCATION RQUIRMENTS:

- Bachelor's strongly preferred

- 3 - 5 year's experience in government affairs, public police, or related field
