ABOUT THE JOB

HUB International is seeking a Data Architect . This new role will primarily be responsible for the discovery, design, build and execution of complex data integration efforts to support next generation digital transformation at HUB.

This role will be responsible for delivering a strategic solution on the Azure platform and will provide advanced advisory and technical requirement consultation as an internal SME, representing both Enterprise Architecture strategy and technical design requirements of Enterprise Data & Analytics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for design, development, and implementation of the engineering and architecture of a new platform, including database applications and solutions for managing and integrating data between operational systems, data repositories, and reporting and analytical applications. This includes but is not limited to ETL, stored procedures, views, and functions.

  • Analyze, design, develop, implement, and maintain technical solutions in Azure using data warehouse technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL DB, Azure Logic Apps, PowerBI and Azure Analysis Services.

  • Recommends and provide guidance regarding Data Integration and database development, best practices, and standards to the development team members as needed.

  • Create and propose technical design documentation which includes current and future functionality, database objects affected, specifications, and flows/diagrams to detail the proposed database and/or Data Integration implementation.

  • Develops and maintains an understanding of the business processes and the technology platforms that are required for integration.

  • Understand and translate stakeholder s requirements into common language that can be adopted for the use with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or Test Driven Development (TDD).

  • Participates in industry and other professional networks to ensure awareness of industry standards, trends and best practices in order to strengthen organizational and technical knowledge.

  • Works continually on improving performance of source code using industry standard methodologies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and impeccable attention to detail

  • Proven ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Exceptional self-direction and project management skills.

  • Mentor junior team members in data architectures and best practices

  • Define technical approach documents (define calculated logic, process flow, etc.)

  • Meet business requirements of the projects as new data sources are added

  • Provide production support for existing data pipelines and models

  • Document steps needed to migrate database objects between various environments including Development, Test, and Production

  • Provide regular project updates to shared team resources and management as needed

  • Communicate issues, risks, and concerns proactively to management and engage colleagues while working in a hybrid Agile/Scrum process

  • Prepare and present content to team members, stakeholders and executives as needed during project lifecycle

  • Provide technical assistance and task delegation to a flexible team of staff engineers, consultants, and interns in close coordination with team Managers and Directors

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft and related data technologies at the expert level

  • Expert knowledge of SQL, PowerShell, DAX, M, and Data Analysis

  • Experience in building Power BI datasets and tabular models

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred and five plus years experience in information technology or equivalent progressive experience with data engineering and data warehouse technologies with a focus on the Azure platform in the past five years to present

  • Microsoft Certified Professional in the Azure fundamentals track and Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert is strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of best practices in enterprise-wide database implementation, availability and security configuration

  • Advanced experience with Azure using data warehouse technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL DB, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure Analysis Services, Azure Databricks

  • Knowledge of Google Cloud and BigQuery environments as a data source for integration into ETL processes

  • Knowledge of T-SQL, DAX, the Dataverse, relational database technologies and related information technology

  • Experience in the Kimball method of database design and OLAP technology

  • Advanced understanding and comprehension of XML and JSON

  • Experience in relational and multi-dimensional databases as well as 2-tier and 3-tier architecture. Versed in designing and overall strategy with business intelligence systems in the Microsoft Azure ecosphere

  • Knowledge and direct experience working with Azure Purview, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, PowerApps, Profisee and the O365 platform

  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and under potentially stressful situations

  • Superior oral and written communication skills; capacity to explain complex solutions to non-technical business process, and solution owner-partners internally, along with corporate executives, directors, managers, staff, and contractors

  • Both educate and inform to a wide range of audiences; advanced documentation skills to track feedback and action items through the entire project lifecycle

  • Nights, weekends, and non-regular hours may be required to deploy and make ready solutions that require support and collaboration from resources globally

Disclosure required under applicable municipal regulations in NY and NJ, as well as the law in Colorado: The expected salary range for this position is $125K to $145K and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position s business line, scope and level.
