Position Summary:

We are looking for a Director, Talent Management as a key leader within the global HR team in San Diego, CA with a hybrid option. Our HR team is highly collaborative, creative, and passionate about the work we do to further our mission through our people practices. The Director of Talent Management will be responsible for playing a key leadership role in the organization and leads a team of three professionals to design, implement, and oversee global talent management and learning development programs for a global population of 9,000+.

You will have the opportunity to evolve current practices while introducing new performance enablement and learning development initiatives to drive business results.

This position reports to the Vice President, HRBP and Talent Management.

All About You

Responsibilities:

Talent Management

  • Lead and elevate our global strategy and approach to talent management and succession planning to develop and grow talent.
  • Advise and collaborate with the HR Leadership Team, HR Business Partners and business leaders to leverage and evolve existing core talent review, performance enablement, succession planning, and leadership development planning processes to enable the execution of current and future strategies.
  • Create and monitor relevant metrics and KPIs to proactively diagnose and address key talent trends and measure the return on investment for our programs.
  • Identify and implement strategies to enhance the internal talent pipeline, considering workforce trends and existing capabilities.
  • Support and implement leadership development programs to continuously feed the global talent pipeline.
  • Drive effective and impactful talent calibration and reviews in partnership with HR Business Partners and leadership teams.
  • Educate the business about talent management processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Bring an inclusion and diversity lens to all talent-related programs.
  • Partner with the HRIS team to integrate Talent management processes with technology solutions.
  • Serve as a liaison to help grow Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to maximize engagement and benefit.
  • Identify and develop organizational development activities and interventions for use by HR Business Partners.

Learning Development

  • Lead the global leadership development strategy, identifying, building, and deploying learning, leadership and professional development programs that are relevant, real-time, and impactful for the organization.
  • Partner with business leaders and HR Business Partners globally to identify critical capability needs that drive the business strategy and then create and implement solutions to address these gaps.
  • Create and leverage existing solutions to accelerate front-line leader capabilities.
  • Build curriculum for various management and leadership development programs to promote leadership capabilities aligned with Illumina s culture and business environment.
  • Measure the effectiveness and utilization of learning initiatives by implementing solutions to gather feedback and data. Use the findings to take a continuous improvement approach.
  • Evaluate, identify, and partner with vendors as needed to procure/customize content.
  • Utilize a blend of learning methodologies, including workshops, coaching, mentoring, and e-learning, to address diverse learning styles.
  • Identify timely leadership development topics and capabilities to be leveraged in Dynamic Discussions leadership series.
  • Support continuous development of talent management skillsets within HR Business Partner team.

Requirements:

  • Typically requires 18 years of related experience and a a bachelor s degree in human resources, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, (or other related field); or 10 years and a Master s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience building and scaling talent management in a global organization.
  • Ability to consult and partner with executive level leadership.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful learning programs: new manager, leadership development, career development.
  • Ability to understand business imperatives and translate to HR initiatives.
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn the business and understand what drives business results and outcomes.
  • Experience supporting culture shifts.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze program metrics and drive actionable insights.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Change management expertise, with the ability to navigate organizational shifts and drive adoption.
  • Proficiency in HR technology and tools related to talent management and learning management systems.

The estimated base salary range for the Director, Talent Management (Hybrid) role based in the United States of America is: $167,200 - $250,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
