Safety Coordinator


Job Details

Safety coordinators support the site superintendent with job site safety analysis meetings, spot-checking subcontractors, and managing accidents and site safety hazards. In addition, they conduct drug screens performed on-site, set up OSHA-required signage, and more.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct job site safety analysis (JSA) meetings and spot-check subcontractors.
  • Establishes relationships with subcontractors and clinics.
  • Assist the superintendent team with JSA preparation and review.
  • Organize safety walk-throughs with safety professionals from subcontractors.
  • Help manage all accidents onsite and accompany subcontractor employees to the clinic.
  • Assist the project team with safety investigations and documentation of recordable accidents.
  • Assist the project team with the investigation of safety records of all subcontractors on site.
  • Organize a job site project safety representative (PSR) program.
  • Conduct weekly employee and foremen safety meetings.
  • Perform random drug screening on site.
  • Set up field office with required OSHA signage and SDS books.
  • Assist the superintendent with site safety hazard management.
  • Organize safety celebrations and rewards programs.
  • Perform required safety observations, inspections, and audits within the database.
  • Categorize observations and audits submitted by the project team.
  • Provide trending reports for the project team from the database.
  • Review site-specific fall protection plans from subcontractors working on the site.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for subcontractors.
  • Perform site orientation for all employees working on site.
  • With the project team, organize and conduct preconstruction meetings with new contractors coming on-site.
  • Assist with safety training for Harvey | Harvey-Cleary employees.
  • Assist with other tasks, as required.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Minimum of four years as a journeyman in a skilled trade
  • Good verbal communication skills. Ability to speak both Spanish and English preferred.
  • A team player and collaborator who can also work independently and efficiently with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, remain calm under pressure and shift priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to focus and maintain concentration on tasks and the overall work environment.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Enthusiastic attitude and strong work ethic


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • To safely conduct activities, operate equipment and navigate the work site, one must be able to be aware of surroundings (which generally requires sufficient vision and hearing).
  • Must be able to distinguish colors givens safety signs and warnings.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require the use of arms, legs, and entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking on uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, etc.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noise, smells, weather elements, and other elements associated with commercial construction sites.
  • Must be able to safely work on or around scaffolding and trenches.
  • Must be able to use all applicable Personal Protective Equipment, which may include fall protection and respirators.


Prospective employees must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment and random drug screens.
