Job Details

MAU is hiring a Maintenance Technician at GHCI in Harleyville, SC. As a Maintenance Technician, you will make mechanical repairs to equipment, machinery, and structures throughout the plant. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information:


  • 1st shift, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM


General Requirements:


  • Capable of satisfactory completion of MSHA and RCRA training requirements of the job as well as training resulting from equipment updates or modifications, process changes, or the mandates of regulatory agencies
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training provided by the designated department supervisor or otherwise qualified employee
  • NCCER Certification
  • Ability to read common workplace documents, listen, comprehend, and take appropriate actions based on verbal messages
  • Strong grammar and mathematical skills
  • Understanding of the technologies of electricity, mechanics, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics


Preferred Requirements:


  • High school diploma
  • 2-year technical degree in a related field


Essential Functions:


  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on various plant equipment and machinery
  • Enter and retrieve data from the computerized maintenance management system
  • Patch holes, replace components, repack seals, clean and replace air filters, make silo changes, and change dust collector bags, adjust chains, belts, rollers, idlers, etc.
  • Lubricate machinery and equipment
  • Operate mobile equipment such as gas and oil truck, dump truck, forklift, man lift, mobile crane, etc.
  • Replace cables on cranes, both mobile and overhead
  • Make repairs to buildings such as siding, doors, windows, plumbing, etc.
  • Perform all types of welding including chamfering, gouging, hard surfacing, build up, brazing, etc. on all types of metal in horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
  • Fabricate chutes, hoppers, and piping
  • Repair parts for machinery and set steel and/or machinery and equipment from drawings
  • Attach hoses and other necessary equipment to rail tank cars and/or P.D. trucks for unloading materials
  • Inspect, maintain, lubricate, adjust, and repair dust collectors and all allied equipment, both mechanical and electrical
  • Keep work areas clean and maintain records related to compliance with hazardous waste fuels regulations
  • Cut bolts, pipes, etc. with oxygen acetylene outfit
  • Build up and hard surfaces hammers, drag chains, chutes, etc.
  • Fill out daily reports of duties performed and materials used
  • Operate vibration analysis equipment
  • Machine, rework, and fabricate such parts as shafts, hangers, take-ups, bearings, pins, bushings, sleeves, etc.
  • Repair shop equipment such as air wrenches, jackhammers, grinders, scalers, etc.
  • Service and repair plant air compressors and inner/after coolers
  • Perform other tasks as assigned


Work Environment or Working Conditions:


  • Work inside or outside during inclement weather, daylight, darkness, weekends, holidays, and/or rotational shifts
  • Work in an industrial environment and subject to hazards normally present in such places


Physical Demands:


This position may require the following to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Climb steps, ladders, and traverse walkways (including catwalks)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Reach at least six feet
  • Adequate vision and hearing to allow satisfactory job performance
