SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for the management of day-to-day accounting functions related to manufacturing operations. This position works with and is an integral part of the team charged with decision-making and the overall success of the company. The Plant Controller reports to the Director of Finance with a dotted line reporting relationship to the V.P. & Controller-Manufacturing Business Unit. The Plant Controller is responsible for ensuring all plant accounting functions are handled in a timely, accurate manner. The incumbent is responsible for managing a variety of accounting and other business-related functions, including:
- Ensures compliance with company policies, internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Ensures accurate and timely monthly financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to Marmon and effectively communicating financial results internally to facilitate decision making.
- Oversees day-to-day functions, e.g., accounts payable, general accounting, inventory accounting, etc., are carried out in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner. Manages a team of 3 accountants.
- Provides necessary support.
- Ensures proper results from the inventory spreadsheets.
- Analysis of materials consumed and other variances.
- Supervise physical inventories.
- Property ledger maintenance and fixed asset inventories
- Maintain direct cost accounting environment at manufacturing facility.
- Assist with preparing the annual budget for the plant.
- Participates in and actively supports Quality projects and activities and Responsible Care initiatives to ensure that the Company achieves its goals.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a bachelor s degree in accounting, finance, a minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience with cost accounting, in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced degree and CPA are beneficial.
- Ability to effectively supervise both staff and clerical employees with a minimum of 2 years of management experience.
- Ability to analyze financial and other information into the operations of the company.
- Ability to integrate non-financial and other information into the operations of the company.
- Highly motivated, creative, innovative, self-starter, and makes decisions.
- Direct and lead subordinates to improve and simplify processes.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems.
