Hello Hilo is excited to bring Hawaiian Food to what will soon be our Ohana in Gainesville. We are seeking a Kitchen Manager for our new restaurant to help us create an experience for the community by sharing irresistible food and Aloha Spirit.

Hello Hilo is a new, fast casual restaurant bringing Hawaii-inspired eats & treats to Gainesville, GA. Developed by the Taira family, founders of KING S HAWAIIAN , Hello Hilo is named for Hilo, HI where Robert R. Taira opened his first bakery more than 70 years ago. This oasis destination will offer a refreshing Hawaiian island experience in Northeast Georgia with a unique and delicious menu served with the Aloha Spirit .


Job Summary:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Kitchen Manager is an extremely valued leadership position within the restaurant and is responsible for leading and energizing the Kitchen Heart of House team to create daily Aloha Experiences for our guests. Leadership roles are expected to lead with self-awareness, curious, collaborative, and critical thinking , and have a strong bias towards action. Responsibilities for this position include but aren t limited to:

  • Oversee all daily kitchen operations with the goal of exceeding all expectations
  • Provide consistent leadership and encouragement to lead Heart of House team members during business hours
  • Cultivate a diverse and welcoming culture of Aloha for all Heart of House team members
  • Maintain an excellent level of food, service, health, and safety standards to ensure guest and team member safety
  • Collaborate with General Manager to conduct team meetings as necessary
  • Execute product inventory and quality control
  • Maintain all Back of House equipment and manage all equipment vendor relationships
  • Consistently apply, maintain and improve systems, tools and processes in a manner that produces measurable outstanding results by department
  • Identify, interview, train and develop a highly productive, cross-functional team of employees

Skills/Experience Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in Kitchen Operations
  • 1-3 years of experience within a leadership position
  • Proficient in English with clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math and computing skills
  • A curious, critical and collaborative thinker who is always eager to learn
  • Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to provide feedback and coaching to team
  • Proficient in all Heart of House positions and able to support all of them as needed
  • Self-motivated with the ability to see what is needed to be done with little direction
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced team environment
  • Must be flexible on schedule and process, able to pivot and change easily
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time during shift
  • Ability to arrive on time ready to work for all assigned shifts including, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
