HIRING SALARY: $35,568.00 - $40,000.00 annually; all salary calculations to start at the minimum salary

HOURS: 8:00 A.M.. - 5:00P.M., Monday - Friday; 40 hours per week

MAJOR FUNCTION: The Accounting Specialist is housed within the Financial Services department and will report to the Manager. This position will perform responsible and advanced work in the maintenance of complex accounting and reports.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching, creating and maintaining college accounts receivables. Providing information necessary to ensure applicable EFT receipts are accurately and timely recorded. Analyzing accounts to ensure accuracy of transactions. Preparing journal entries as necessary.
  • Research and assist with monitoring and maintaining the financial data for the College. Support the completion of monthly bank reconciliation. Researching and correcting differences identified, as necessary. Ensuring the accuracy of general ledger transactions. Reconciling College clearing accounts, including researching and correcting differences identified, as necessary. Analyze accounts to ensure accuracy of transaction recording.
  • Assists with the completion of the College's annual financial statements. Entering year-end journal entries for financial statement presentation.
  • Assists in testing, maintenance, and refinement of information systems software and office procedures. Other financial tasks and duties as assigned.


MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma and three (3) years of bookkeeping or clerical accounting experience; or a combination of education and/or experience.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of policies and procedures. Basic accounting principles. Skilled in communicating with peers and the CFollege community. Operating personal computer software such as word processing and spreadsheets. Using Workday software. Ability to work independently. Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Complete assigned duties and tasks in a timely manner.
