Summary

The Nursing Peer Mentor/Tutor serves as a resource for the undergraduate nursing students at Saint Xavier University. In this role, nursing students (in good standing) provide tutoring services; the Nursing Peer Mentor/Tutor can assist with content clarification and reinforcement. The Nursing Peer Mentor/Tutor collaborates with other members of the Tutor Team and with the Academic Success Coaches for the Nursing Program to promote students' success in the Nursing Program at SXU.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains a current 3.0 NGPA
  • Provides content review and clarification for undergraduate nursing students.
  • Maintains accurate records of student interactions; protects student privacy and upholds FERPA.
  • Develops and facilitates Student Success Workshops as delegated by the Nursing Peer Mentor/Tutor Supervisor.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to SXU's core values by respectfully serving individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal skills.
  • Commits to regular weekly hours; demonstrates punctuality.
  • Embodies professional behaviors in all interactions with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Communicates with Nursing Peer Mentor/Tutor Supervisor on a regular basis.

Qualifications

This position is FWS-exempt; eligibility for Federal Work Study is not required.

  • Good standing in the Undergraduate Nursing Program
  • NGPA of 3.0 minimum
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingual preferred, but not required
  • Proactive attitude
  • Desire to serve others
  • Ability to function as a member of a team

Description of Hours: 1 shift per week (approximately 2 hours per week), additional events/workshops as needed
Start Date: Week 2 of the semester
