Financial Controller


Job Details

We are a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial financial services business with very ambitious growth plans. We have a global presence and having gone through a period of consolidating previous merger and acquisitions (M&A) under a single brand, we are now actively seeking new M&A opportunities.


These plans are driving the need for additional resources, including a Financial Controller - Americas to help to support and embed any new business we secure as well as to support the existing business.


This is a hands on role with responsibility for core accounting, reporting, treasury and tax functions, including the management of a small team and liaison with global colleagues.


Ideal candidates will be CPA qualified and will have experience of working as part of a broader global team and shared services teams based in a remote location. This is a remote role and you can be based anywhere in the US.


Responsibilities

  • Directing day to day accounting activities including revenue accounting/recognition, billing reconcilliation, AP, Accruals etc.
  • Lead and manage the month end, year end close processes to meet required deadlines.
  • The integrity and accuracy of the financial statements and underlying financial data.
  • Delivery of continuous improvement.
  • Prepare federal and state tax provisions
  • Perform treasury functions
  • Develop, implement and document policies, procedures, controls and SOPs.
  • Train, mentor and develop the accounting staff and upgrading the performance of the team.


Attributes and Qualifications


  • CPA preferably with "big 4" background
  • 10 years + experience with at least 3 to 4 years as a proven, high performing controller
  • organizational and follow-up skills
  • and ability to meet deadlines associated with the month-end close and with numerous recurring and ad-hoc deliverables during the month
  • ability to effectively delegate and manage multiple deliverables, including recurring work and projects
  • analytical and problem-solving skills
  • reconciliation skills
  • proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to manipulate large data files with advanced Excel skills is required.
  • with Hyperion (HFM) and SAP preferred
