A Robert Half client in the healthcare industry is looking to add an Assistant Controller to their team!


Position Summary: The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of our healthcare company. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position is responsible for overseeing the accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee the day-to-day accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the development and implementation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Audit and Compliance: Assist in managing internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and internal policies.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and operations.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and fostering professional development.
  • Special Projects: Participate in and lead special projects as assigned by the Controller or CFO.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in the healthcare industry is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and healthcare industry standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
