Job Title: Equipment Maintenance Technician (Nights)

Pay Range: $40-60/hour, depending on experience.


Summary: The equipment maintenance technician will provide essential after-hours support to VPE Inc. They will be responsible for safely completing preventative maintenance to furnaces as well as providing support and troubleshooting expertise to the night furnace team. The furnaces are essential to VPE s success, and this position will play a key role in keeping the furnaces up and running safely.


This position would start on days for training and orientation but will eventually transition into the night shift.


Essential Functions:

  • Replacement of system components including vacuum pumps, vacuum gauges, thermocouples, temperature controllers, filter elements, and fluids.
  • Build and operate specialized testing or processing fixtures, systems, and apparatus.
  • Maintains, trouble shoots, repairs, and installs electrical equipment utilizing technical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
  • electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  • Diagnose, and repair industrial equipment such as, cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, vacuum pumps, vacuum gauges, chillers, air handling units, electric doors.
  • Performs daily general maintenance duties such as preventive maintenance, trouble calls, and emergency maintenance as needed and assigned.
  • Occasionally work on projects running conduit, pulling wire, and connecting devices utilizing lifts and ladders.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install or de-install hydraulic systems.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install or de-install low voltage systems.
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
  • Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Perform or assists outside services with calibration of system monitoring and measuring equipment.
  • Perform typical operations as a furnace technician including loading of assembled components, placement of thermocouples, generating recipes, adjusting controls per job documentation or project engineer communications, starting and monitors profile, adjusting during profile to provide correct profile of part.


Requirements

  • 10 plus years experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment. Must be able to show proven experience diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues/failures.
  • Must be able to operate independently and with minimal leadership.
  • Experience in handling voltages up to 480 VAC.
  • DC power and controls- at least 5 years experience.
  • Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics.
  • Ability to install electrical equipment and circuit modification.
  • Understanding of Atmospheric pressures- being able to read and articulate them.
  • Familiar with pumps and motors, replacement, diagnosing, rebuilding, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience with Hydraulics, Pneumatics, physics of Temperature control,
  • Familiar with performing PM s- Furnaces, compressors, hydraulic pumps.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and departments. Must have excellent verbal, written, communications skills.
  • A working knowledge of Physics.
  • Current driver s license and forklift certification.


Preferred

  • HVAC and Vacuum furnace/pump experience is a big plus.
  • associate or bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a similar field is highly preferred.
