About the Role:

Our Client is a small boutique law firm located in Oceanside, NY is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in providing administrative and clerical support within a legal environment. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with attorneys and clients in a collaborative and dynamic setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level administrative support to attorneys and legal staff
  • Manage and organize legal documents, correspondence, and filings
  • Draft and proofread legal documents, including letters, memos, and briefs
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances
  • Maintain electronic and physical filing systems in accordance with firm protocols
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, court personnel, and other parties
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant information as needed
  • Assist with case management tasks, including docketing deadlines and updating case files
  • Handle incoming calls, emails, and inquiries, and route them accordingly
  • Assist, Track and notate accounting systems for billing and invoicing processes as required
  • Provide customer support and service and maintain customer relations as required
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive information
  • Perform other administrative duties and projects as assigned by attorneys and management


Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or similar role within a law firm setting
  • Must have a great attitude, be able to work independently and with others, be flexible and have strong written and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Professional demeanor and client-focused attitude
  • Knowledge of New York State legal procedures and regulations is a plus
