GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,292 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 40 substations, and 9 generating facilities. As the Safety Administrative Assistant at Golden Valley Electric Association in Fairbanks, Alaska, you will play a vital role in supporting our Safety Section. Your responsibilities will include providing technical and administrative support to ensure regulatory compliance and efficient information management. By leveraging your expertise in safety practices and regulations, you will contribute to the delivery of safety education programs and the administration of various safety initiatives. Additionally, you will assist in conducting new employee safety orientations, coordinating training sessions, and preparing reports.

To excel in the role of Safety Administrative Assistant at Golden Valley Electric Association, candidates should possess either an Associate degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Business Administration, or a related field, or a High School diploma with at least two years of experience in a safety-specific or administrative role. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a related field is essential for this position. Additionally, candidates must hold a valid Alaska driver's license. While not mandatory, Occupational Health and Safety certification, Certified Professional Secretary (CPS), or Certified Administrative Professional credentials are preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proficiency in information management, and a solid understanding of safety practices and regulations.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for success in this dynamic and safety-focused role.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Education:
    • Associate degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Business Administration or related field
    • or
    • High School graduate with two years or more of employment in a safety specific or administrative role required.
  • Minimum of three years relevant experience in a related field.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license is required.
