Northwest Mississippi Community College (NWCC) is seeking part-time Ticketing Agents for the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts. Ticketing Agents sell tickets in person to guests on the day of an event and are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills, a passion for service, a positive attitude, experience with processing sales transactions using technology, and the ability to communicate comfortably with members of the general public. This position reports to the Assistant Director and follows the Heindl Center performing arts season calendar working events only but may occasionally be asked to fill the role of our daily Box Office Ticketing Agent if needed.

The Heindl Center for the Performing Arts:

The Heindl Center for the Performing Arts is a 65,000 square-foot development that presents a 1,203 seat, fully-equipped performance theater, including balcony seating, a reception gallery with private courtyard, and a two-story lobby entrance. Backstage areas incorporate multiple dressing rooms, a green room, and prop and costume preparation areas. The facility features classrooms, computer labs, a digital piano lab, multiple private instrument practice rooms, and a recording studio for academic music and entertainment industry pathways. Four spacious rehearsal spaces are provided for the Northwest bands and choirs, including an outdoor, 100-yard practice field for the Northwest Marching Band. The Heindl Center hosts Broadway touring productions, celebrity attractions, visiting artists, premier lecturers, local presentations, film screenings, rentals, and on-campus events.

Responsibilities:

  • Process ticket sales in person using the ticketing system to include selling tickets, searching for patrons records, and completing cash, check, and credit card transactions.
  • Distribute tickets designated for pick up at will call.
  • Create a welcoming environment by greeting guests upon entry.
  • Provide a high level of customer service when assisting guests and answering questions.
  • Work with guests to solve customer service challenges in a professional manner.
  • Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of schedule, events, and relevant details for each performance.
  • Remain vigilant and proactive in anticipating guest needs during events.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Routinely access work email to sign-up for events and to receive communications from the Heindl Center team.
  • Comply with all Heindl Center and NWCC policies on communication, dress code, safety, and procedures involving cash and credit transactions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of any details of internal operations and or visiting performing artists.
  • As needed, may be asked to fill other positions on the events team per staffing requirements of the event.
  • Complete any other duties as assigned by the Heindl Center Assistant Director and/or Director.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years or older, dependable, and punctual.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Documented work experience in customer service including POS transactions preferred. Documented work experience in ticket sales or similar platform preferred.
  • Comfort with technology (i.e. use of internet browser, laptop, mouse) with the ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Skill in operating Microsoft Office and internet browsers.
  • Availability to work evening hours on weekends or weeknights, signing up for shifts as schedule and openings permit.
  • Ability to communicate positively and professionally with members of the general public, NWCC employees and students, and representatives of touring productions.
  • Ability to work under pressure during heavy sales periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to climb flights of stairs and walk large venue as needed.
Compensation:
  • Ticketing Agent compensation begins at $12 per hour.
