Payroll Specialist



JGA is excited to announce an opening for a Payroll Specialist to join our client's dynamic team. This role involves supporting various payroll activities, including processing, garnishments, HR data management, and special projects. You will also be responsible for generating reports in line with legal requirements and addressing payroll-related employee concerns.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform biweekly updates and reconciliations of payroll balance sheets.
  • Input employee data, including new hires, terminations, rate adjustments, and changes to tax and address details.
  • Review weekly hours submitted by field offices to ensure compliance with Department of Labor regulations and internal financial policies.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries and concerns from field offices.
  • Handle certified payroll billing information as required.
  • Conduct audits and maintain controls between ADP/GL and JDE to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Identify system issues and collaborate with the manager to resolve them.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of payroll processes to achieve best-in-class standards.
  • Adhere to company and department policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proactive in supporting field office staff and capable of interacting with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and payroll/time tracking software.
  • Solid understanding of payroll, tax, and labor regulations.
  • Professional demeanor with strong telephone communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work well in a team and maintain professional interactions with co-workers and vendors.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years of experience with payroll and time recording systems.

Work Environment:

  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Flexible work schedule with the ability to work additional hours on short notice.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods


*This role requires Canadian payroll and legislation experience*
