Position: Commvault Engineer Residency
Location: Manassas, VA (Onsite 2-3 a days a week required)
Experience Needed: Day-to-day Commvault backup and recovery administration, with some virtualization or cloud experience as it pertains to Commvault
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Commvault Backup and Recovery Resident Engineer to join our team and provide exceptional support to an enterprise-level account in Manassas, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our client's existing Commvault environment, ensuring the integrity and availability of critical data.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the Commvault backup and recovery infrastructure.
- Monitor and optimize backup jobs, ensuring successful completion and troubleshooting failures.
- Perform regular system health checks and capacity planning.
- Configure and manage storage policies, schedules, and retention settings.
- Execute and validate data backup and restore operations, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and conduct regular testing.
- Provide support for data recovery operations, including file, database, and application-level recoveries.
- Provide advanced technical support for Commvault-related issues.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical problems.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve issues impacting backup and recovery processes.
- Maintain detailed documentation of backup configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Generate and analyze reports on backup performance, capacity usage, and system health.
- Provide regular status updates and reports to management and stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all Commvault-related activities and issues.
- Conduct regular meetings with the client to discuss performance, issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Deliver training and knowledge transfer sessions to client staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Up to 5 years of hands-on experience in Commvault Backup and Recovery.
- Proven experience supporting enterprise-level data center environments.
- In-depth knowledge of Commvault software, including installation, configuration, and administration.
- Strong understanding of backup and recovery processes, storage solutions, and disaster recovery planning.
- Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation tasks.
- Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) and databases (SQL, Oracle).
- Commvault certification (e.g., Commvault Certified Professional, Commvault Certified Engineer).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
