Edward Stanley Engineers is a small well-established structural engineering firm specializing in buildings. Our office is located in Guilford, CT. Our projects include architect designed residences, as well as other building types and non-building structures. All our projects demand the creation of a structural system that is carefully integrated into a precise architectural design and we interact closely with the architect and builder throughout the process.
We are seeking a candidate for a full-time position, with a B.S. in Civil Engineering who has zero to three years of experience with structural design of buildings.
A good candidate must demonstrate the following attributes
- A person who desires responsibility and has high self-standards for success.
- Familiarity with a finite element software package. We utilize RISA software.
- Organized and thorough calculation skills and the ability to apply standard engineering design principles and sound engineering judgment. You will work on more than one project at a time and will need to keep clear and organized records of design work.
- An outgoing personality with friendly communication and collaborative skills. Much of our work involves frequent communication with architects and contractors.
- Effective writing skills. Much of our day-to-day communications involves email correspondence with clients.
Many of our clients come to us for our creativity and experience. You will be performing a variety of structural engineering analyses and design tasks that offer an opportunity to utilize your creativity. You will work closely with everyone in the office on a variety of project types in both the design and construction phase of the projects. Work will include computer modeling of foundation and superstructure systems, member design, and construction administration tasks including shop drawing review and site visits to observe the installed structural work. You will be given as much responsibility as you can handle. It is a great environment to prepare for the PE exam.
