Job Summary:

The E&I Engineering Tech provides E&I Technical support for both E&I Design and E&I Engineering. Interfaces with E&I Design and Engineering to assist with the flow of information and work product. Checks and reviews E&I drawings and Engineering documents prior to being issued. Takes part in Field surveys, FAT test, and equipment inspections.


  • Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Produce, review and check Cable / Tubing Schedules
  • Produce, review and check Cable Tray Fill calculations
  • Prepare engineering sketches for Drafting
  • Prepare data sheets for electrical instrumentation
  • May interpret and modify P&IDS
  • May prepare cost estimates
  • Produce, review and check Bill of Materials (BOM s) and Material Take Off s (MTO s)
  • Provide input and updates for Drawing Register Data Bases, Master Document Records (MDR) and Project Document Schedules (PDS)
  • Review / check E&I drawings for correctness, completeness and formatting
  • Review /check E&I Engineering documents for correctness, completeness and formatting
  • Review client specifications to ensure compliance
  • Write, produce, check and issue Work Packs
  • Prepare drawing packages for issue by document control
  • Develop, review, and maintain when required, project E/I Drawing Registers
  • Lead or take part in field survey teams site surveys
  • Take part in and produce reports for Field Surveys, FAT tests and Equipment inspections


Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):


  • Requires HS Diploma or the equivalent;
  • Associated degree or above in related engineering or engineering technology discipline preferred;
  • Requires ten (10) more years experience in engineering design related to job duties and responsibilities;
  • Requires at least five (5) years recent experience in the offshore or onshore/offshore, petrochemical or chemical industry.


Working Conditions:


  • is conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private Office) and requires occasional travel to off-site work locations;
  • with other team members as well as supervisor and client personnel;
  • be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis to obtaining project field data or attend project meetings;
  • duties may require outdoor work in a plant, facility or terminal environment which may include working in plant or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
  • duties require outdoor work in a plant or construction atmosphere;
  • be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;
  • be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.

Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds;

Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;

Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;

Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;

Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties;

Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
