Part-Time Maintenance Technician for Parish (NE)

Job Summary:

The Pastorate of St. Francis, St. Mary, Holy Family is in search of a qualified candidate to fill the role of Maintenance Worker. The chosen individual will assume responsibilities related to the maintenance and repair of the Pastorate's facilities, grounds, and Rectory. The role encompasses tasks including, but not limited to, basic carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing, facility set-up, and landscaping. This is a part-time, 18-hours per week position.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Sets up equipment and furniture for various events and decorates for holiday events/seasons. Moves furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for inventory and maintenance of tools and equipment used in daily duties.
  • Must be able to assist as needed on weekends and in emergency situations (e.g. clean up when flooding occurs, shovel snow and remove ice when severe weather occurs).
  • Maintains grounds by mowing, removing leaves, snow, and trash from all buildings.
  • Regularly inspects campus buildings and grounds developing a list of necessary repairs. Reports repair needs to the Director of Operations.
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities and Rectory.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and building repair.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other equipment needed to perform the job duties.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check, and ongoing Virtus training.
Physical Requirements:
  • must be able to move office furniture and other items weighing up to 25 pounds, and to move items of heavier weight with the use of assistive equipment. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend and operate large equipment for extended periods of time is required.
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED required. General mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Previous maintenance and minor repair work experience preferred.
  • Must possess a valid state driver s license with no more than 3 current points.
  • Must have good communication skills and be able to collaborate with other staff members, church groups, diocesan, and other community leaders.
  • Must model Christian attitudes and behaviors and adhere to the Archdiocesan Code of Conduct.
  • A Practicing Catholic is preferred.
