Summary About the Position: The incumbent monitors, administers and manages various programs to provide direct support to members in the United States Army, with emphasis upon the United States Army Reserve. Responsibilities Apply a variety of legislative, regulatory and procedural requirements applicable to reserve personnel actions and activities. Review transactions, utilizing resources and guidelines to complete or process documents and reports, or to determine their sufficiency, accuracy, and completeness. Initiate or respond to requests for factual data or documents relating to military personnel files, status or transactions, or to inquiries regarding regulatory requirements. Compile reports and other records for action or for information purposes. Know the purpose and content, military personnel, automated personnel systems, i.e., RDMS, PERMS, RCIS, RPAS, DJMS, and applicable rules, regulations, and procedures. Analyzes written correspondence to determine action to be taken. Researches, analyzes, and composes replies to a variety of complex inquiries pertaining to personnel support for the military service members officer and enlisted in the Army or its Reserved Components. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience Required: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining records using a variety of automated and/or manual systems; performing task in support functional areas such as: benefits, awards and decorations, retirements, separations, and/or transfers; and maximizing resources to assist Soldiers through oral and written communication solving problems and/or actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06) (or equivalent). Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for required experience in order to qualify. For this position, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. Substitution of education for experience is NOT permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Customer Service Teamwork Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
