SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

OPEN: 05/13/2024 until Filled (Position for SY24-25)


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must a Bachelor's Degree or higher, from an accredited institution, Master's Degree preferred.
  2. Possess a valid speech and language therapy certification issued by the Arizona Department of Education, or
  3. Passage of an exam or current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
  4. Must have a valid driver's license
  5. Must have a current fingerprint clearance card
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: ESS Director

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Speech- Language Pathologist in schools will work to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, social, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders; by offering speech therapy and conducting evaluations to the students in the special education program and those who are referred by teachers, parents, and/or the school district. Must be part of the special education team (MET/IEP). After conducting general screenings and diagnostic evaluations, the SLP will provide services on an Individual or small group basis and will collaborate with the education team on implementing strategies/goals for mitigating speech and language disorders and services within the classroom. SLP will concentrate in the areas of articulation, fluency, voice and resonance, language, cognition, hearing, swallowing, social communication, and communication modalities.
In addition, an SLP in a school will accomplish the IEPs for the students in the caseload, as well as completing all required documentation for students receiving speech therapy at school. They will collaborate with the special education teachers, regular general education teachers, parents, and the school staff. They will also advocate for the students who have communication disabilities. And other duties assigned by ESS Director.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 201 Days Work Calendar

SALARY: Placed on appropriate Salary Schedule according to experience and/or education.

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
