Medical Assistant, Certified - Kootenai Health


Job Details

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of designated provider.

  • Interviews patients, obtains and records patient information into patients' electronic medical record, and measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height)
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
  • May be required to obtain EKG tracings when ordered by attending providers
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients
  • Completes competencies as outlined by assigned department
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
  • PRN (As Needed) -Day Shift

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent education/experience required
  • Current CMA certification by AAMA, NHA or NCCT required
  • BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation

Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
  • Typical equipment used in a clinical job
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
  • Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
