Responsibilities

Clean Energy Services (CES) is actively seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead our remote commissioning initiatives within our Remote Operations Center (ROC). This role is crucial in driving project success and helping our customers achieve their projects' commercial operation dates (COD). Responsibilities of the Commissioning Engineer include:

  • Perform electricity market and/or off-taker qualification testing as required for the project to commence commercial operations. (Ex: ERCOT Checklist Testing).
  • Define, develop, and execute testing based on market rules, local utility requirements, off-taker, and third-party contracts on behalf of customers.
  • Troubleshoot, report, and resolve equipment issues remotely from the ROC.
  • Leading and training the remote operations team to execute remote commissioning tasks utilizing various vendor PPCs, EMS, and SCADA Systems.


Qualifications

  • Over 3 years of practical experience in renewable energy project commissioning or performance testing, including utility/ISO acceptance testing with a track record of project success.
  • Self-motivated and thrives in a startup setting where job roles and responsibilities evolve daily based on business needs/ growth, and where processes and procedures are yet to be fully defined.
  • Knowledge of SCADA and communication protocols like Modbus and DNP3, network design / topology, energy management systems, battery management systems, as well as utility relay and metering equipment.
  • Strong understanding of testing requirements for site COD acceptance in various ISOs, including telemetry testing, protection systems verification, AVR Testing, PFR Testing, Four Quadrant Testing, and Reactive Power Capability testing.
  • Understanding of ancillary services and qualification requirements in various markets.
  • Exposure to a variety of Power Plant Controllers, Energy Management Systems, and SCADA systems. (The commissioning engineer will be utilizing our customers systems to execute testing).
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and project success, with a proactive approach to achieving client objectives and delivering results.
