Senior QA Engineer

Job Title: Senior Quality Engineer Responsible To: QA & Operations Management

General Duties:

The Quality Engineer responsibilities:

  • Management representative for the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Responsible to plan and maintain the QMS in a Team Environment
  • Able to train on the QMS and product standards as applicable
  • Collaborate with Top Management to implement Quality Policy and objectives
  • Collaborate with customer management to implement their quality policies and objectives
  • Collaborate with industry personnel on quality management plans and policies
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic
  • SME for Quality Engineering, Auditing, and Analytical skills
  • Able to write work instructions, procedures, create forms, and oversee the document control system
  • Able to create inspection plans or documents
  • Able to read, interpret, and understand technical drawing and data.
  • Perform other work as assigned

Specific Duties:

  • Plan, prepare, and participate in commercial grade dedication activities including approving, planning, inspecting, and accepting items.
  • Maintain the QMS to meet all NQA-1, Regulatory, and ISO 9001 requirements
  • Participate in the assessment of project risks and determination of quality controls (FMEA)
  • Maintain M&TE equipment & calibration as required
  • Perform Supplier and External/Internal Audits and maintain the schedule supplier audits and evaluations
  • Manage the QMS and participate in the evaluation of its effectiveness
  • Prepare and conduct training for company and customer personnel
  • Ensuring the promotion of awareness of applicable regulatory and QMS requirements, exercise a questioning attitude
  • Be a management representative during customer and regulatory audits
  • Be knowledgeable in the use of mechanical & electrical inspection equipment and tools
  • Be knowledgeable of receiving inspection and implementation.
  • Be a role model for the implementation of the company safety program

Abilities and Skills Required

  • The engineer must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • The engineer must be able to stand on their feet or sit in one position for eight hours.
  • The engineer should possess manual dexterity skills appropriated for the job
  • The engineer must be able to work 40 hrs. per week and have the flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, understand specifications and multi-discipline inspection requirements.
  • Physical requirements include capability of reading Jager J1 and having color vision
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and interpersonally across all levels of the company, suppliers and customers.
  • Apply statistics or other concepts such as 6 Sigma analysis to problems
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy and accountability
  • Able to prioritize, multi-task, and maintain a professional business attitude in dealing with internal and external personnel and stakeholders

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in an applicable discipline or High School diploma with minimum 5 years Quality Engineer or Level II or III Quality Inspector experience.
  • At least 5 years manufacturing/construction-related experience with a quality system job functions (i.e. Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, Quality Technician, Quality Inspector, etc.)
  • Experience in the nuclear industry, NRC or DOE regulatory requirements.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Should have a good working knowledge of NQA-1 including appropriate documentation practices and DOE 414.1D Quality Assurance
  • Write technical documents, inspection reports, and prepare adequate responses to corrective actions, non-conformances, or other documents or records
  • Should be experienced with Corrective and Preventive Actions, Non-conformance processes, Document Control or Control of Records, Risk Analysis (or FMEA type analysis), procurement documents, commercial grade dedication processes, welding, inspection, testing, packaging and labeling requirements, quality audits, and quality system records.
