Status of Employment

Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Union-subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement through Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local #73.

Hours

Monday & Wednesday 4pm-7pm, Saturday 10am-2pm, and other shifts as needed.

Description/Duties:

  • Assist with the leadership and operation of the Climbing Wall.

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of programs, events, or rentals for the Climbing Wall.

  • Supervise programs and participants.

  • Demonstrate good customer service in communicating with rental groups and patrons.

  • Answer customer inquiries or direct to appropriate staff as necessary.

  • Enforce facility use rules and guidelines and park district policies, procedures, rules, and guidelines.

  • May set-up and take down, clean, and maintain appropriate equipment and supplies for activities.

  • Conduct a walk-through inspection to ensure site safety and document deficiencies as required.

  • May assist in the preparation and maintenance of reports and records regarding participants, programs, and services.

  • Wear assigned uniform at all times while on duty.

  • Perform routine, preventative, and corrective custodial maintenance of the assigned facility.

  • Perform routine facility maintenance functions to include but not limited to general clean up, garbage removal, and window cleaning.

  • Assist with equipment maintenance.

  • Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions.

  • Conduct self in accordance with the policies and procedures as established by the park district.

  • Participate in park district safety and training program to ensure that work performed, and services provided are implemented in a safe manner.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school graduate preferred.

Experience

  • Experience working with individuals of various ages and abilities.
  • Experience supervising groups of individuals in a recreational setting.

Knowledge

  • General knowledge of recreation principles and philosophy.
  • General knowledge of customer service and climbing wall activities.
  • Equipment set-up and use for climbing wall activities, programs, and services.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

License / Certification:

  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within one (1) year.
