The National Institutes of Health is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist. This is a long-term, full-time, contract position based in Durham, NC. This position offers a competitive benefits package.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position will independently provide bioinformatics and genomics project support to the Molecular Pathology Group within the Comparative and Molecular Pathogenesis Branch, Division of Translational Toxicology, the National Institutes on Health.

  • Conduct data analysis of the following: Microarray, Next Generation Sequencing, Bulk RNA-Sequencing, and Whole-Genome Sequencing
  • Develop analytical approaches to integrate data generated internally
  • Develop custom software
  • Coordinate the progress on multiple bioinformatics projects in various stages of completion while taking principal responsibility on projects as needed
  • Collaborate with and support scientists to design experiments, analyze and interpret high throughput biological data
  • Write relevant sections of manuscripts, prepare publication quality figures
  • Establish reproducible data analysis pipelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs)


REQUIREMENTS:

  • MS in Genetics, Statistics, or related discipline is required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience conducting data analysis of the following: Microarray, Next Generation Sequencing, Bulk RNA-Sequencing, and Whole-Genome Sequencing, is required
  • Experience with SQL, R, PERL, Python, Linux systems, is required
