Senior System Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We're looking for a System Design Engineer to support our contracting and sales teams. Responsibilities include designing complex mechanical systems for design-build projects, identifying opportunities, providing technical support throughout the sales process, and assisting with qualification and scope support through the design phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review detailed schematic and construction drawings of ductwork, piping, and electrical components.
  • Conduct building heat loss/gain calculations and other analyses to propose and design system solutions.
  • Maintain quality standards by visiting job sites, meeting with customers and vendors, and providing accurate design information for estimating department pricing.
  • Develop solutions, project scope outlines, and sales assistance as needed for all areas of contracting and sales teams.
  • Identify HVAC and process deficiencies, and develop solutions to improve them.
  • Stay informed of industry changes to maintain competitive advantages.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests.
  • Act as a technical resource for engineering projects and collaborate with the estimating department to develop price competitive solutions.
  • Organize and catalog all drawings for future use.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • Minimum of eight years of engineering experience in building automation, electrical, and HVAC industry, with field experience preferred.
  • Financial budgeting, planning, and administration skills required.

Skills and Certifications:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and MS Excel. Experience with ProCore is desirable.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) in North Carolina required, South Carolina preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, customers, and service personnel.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Apply advanced mathematical concepts to practical situations.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required.
  • Occasionally exposed to various environmental conditions during job site visits.

Work Environment:

  • Typical office environment with occasional outdoor and mechanical/equipment room visits.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Ability to prove US employment eligibility.
