** Underground Utility Construction Laborer**

* Operates various tools for the work (various manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come a long, jack hammer and hand line etc.).
* Pull wire, install ground boxes and conduit.
* Operate mini-excavator and skid steer
* Performs all work from the ground.
* Employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments, poisonous plants or reptiles, and stinging insects.
* Working hours will extend into night and will exceed an eight-hour day.
* Clears work area around structures.
* Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate work to be performed.
* Will perform other duties as assigned by Foreperson relating to traffic signal construction work.
* Assembles material on the ground to be installed by the lineperson or apprentice.
* May flag traffic and may be required to have training.
* Works near energized parts or equipment.
* Will be exposed to traffic.
* Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, concrete saws and other equipment with proper hearing protection.
* May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays for extended periods as part of recovery force during emergencies and disasters.
* Experience with concrete forming preferred.
* Experience with underground utility construction preferred.
* Must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
* Weather permitting, this is a minimum 40 - hour work week.
* Must be able to wear necessary PPE.
* Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
* Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.
* Must be able to traverse various terrains.
* Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information in English.
* Must be able to communicate with others.
* Must be able to lift, move and maneuver up to 60 pounds on an infrequent basis, and up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis.
* Must have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day. Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work.
* Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and tools.
* Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
* Must have transportation to and from the startup location.
* Must be willing to travel within the State of Texas as needed.
* Must pass a background and/or MVR check.
* Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
* A Current Drivers License is Needed
