Recreation Leader I- Swim Coach

Temporary Position

(Summer & Year Round)

Overview
In pursuit of service excellence the Summer Swim Coach (Recreation Leader I) provides facility monitoring for an aquatic environment for all ages and background in the population. This position will ensure the safety of all patrons, provide exceptional customer service, and other duties assigned.

What You Should Bring
Each member of our team is accountable for the outstanding delivery of services to the community. You will work to meet the needs of our community. You will have the support of and work under the direction of the Aquatic Recreation Coordinator and/or Aquatic Recreation Manager II. The hours will vary Monday- Friday from 7am-10am and 4pm-7pm, with specials events and swim meets outside of standard business hours.

The Swim Coach will:

  • Develop positive relationships with new and experienced swimmers of all ages
  • Follow coaching guidelines and provide individual and small group instruction according to designated skill level, requirements, and standards
  • Function effectively as a team member
  • Maintain equipment ensuring that equipment is safe, clean, and in working order and that supplies are adequate for operation of the facility.
  • Maintain continuous watch of participants to prevent injury and minimize or eliminate an aquatic emergency.
  • Observes and enforces pool rules and regulations
  • Responds to customer questions and concerns in a positive and professional matter.
  • Works as a member of a team of coaches to provide both in-water and from-the-deck instruction for swimmers on the Wahoo's Swim Team
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum & Additional Requirements

One (1) year of related experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Red Cross CPR/ AED First AID certified.
Preferred Qualifications

Red Cross Lifeguard certification; Water Safety Instructor certification; USA Swimming Coaching certification; Other nationally recognized certifications can be accepted. Red Cross Certification required within one year of employment, or prior to current certification expiration, whichever comes first.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal records background check prior to employment.
