Position Summary:

The Scheduling Specialist (SS) is responsible for daily scheduling functions of patients for Provider Network Services (PNS) and Conway Medical Center (CMC). The SS is responsible for interacting with patients, payers, and providers to gather information and will be responsible for scheduling procedures, obtaining authorizations, referral management, and coordination of care documents.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two (2) years' previous experience working in an office environment preferred.
  • Previous experience working in Customer Experience required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year previous experience front desk operations in a physician's office and/or experience in patient registration in an acute care facility preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
  • None

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collects history/physical information, provides prep instructions, and provides paperwork to the necessary departments.
  • Responsibilities include updating screening files, assures accurate information is entered in Electronic Medical Records (EMR), maintains recall list, and sends out patient correspondence.
  • Provide phone call management and answer multiple incoming telephone lines, screen and transfer calls, answer various questions, and obtain the necessary information to properly assist our callers.
  • Schedule medical appointments associated with referrals and procedures, and book patient appointments within parameters of our physician scheduling templates, availability and preferences.
  • Will on occasion complete other duties as assigned beyond those designated in this primary job description which may include "float" coverage at an alternate facility, department, or assignment.
  • Provide exemplary core customer service.

  • Consistently display effective verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
  • Regularly exercise independent judgment.
  • Each employee who participates in the coding, billing or claims submission process, from the initial receipt of a physician order to the receipt of payment for services, shall accurately and honestly perform his/her functions to ensure that accurate claims are submitted, and the organization retains only those funds to which it is legally entitled.
