Position Description:
The Assistant Production Manager provides operational and event execution support to the Entertainment Production Manager. The position directly oversees the technical, video and conversion departments. The Assistant Production Manager will assist in the logistics of arena and showroom events for Boyd Gaming productions as well as overseeing the day to day staffing of the department.
* Assists the Production manager in all aspects of event production from preliminary planning to execution of the event, including advancing shows with respective event tour managers and fulfilling the production needs as dictated by event rider.
* Oversee the recruitment, interviewing, recommendation for hire and training of the Video department staff as well as provide guidance and direction for the Conversion and Cleaning department.
* Establish and implement the building operational schedule as it pertains to Load-in/out, Cleaning and Converting the building from one event to the next.
* Evaluate, develop and interpret technical drawings associated with set design, rigging plots, lighting plots, sound plots and all other technical drawings associated with event production.
* Insure compliance with all safety regulations per Fire, Police, Public Safety and OSHA standards.
* Maintain accurate time and attendance records for the department as well as event billing related to the Production and Cleaning departments; and supply the necessary information to the Production Manager in a timely manner.
* Assist in maintaining and meeting all production budget goals for each every event as well as each financial goal for the fiscal calendar year.
* Develop and maintain professional relationships with promoters, vendors and clients
* Maintain awareness of new developments and trends in the field of Arena operations Production
* Maintain a working knowledge of other departmental areas such as Administration, Booking, Catering, Production, Premium Services and Accounting.
* Oversee the presentation of videos and graphics for internal and external purposes during events and manage the replay content for live events
* Assist with fulfillment of contractual sponsorship commitments.
* Manage in-house video services personnel including scheduling, evaluations and training as well as oversee all on-call staff during events.
* Oversee the broadcast of audio and video advertising content for events.
* Attend all event planning meetings.
* Maintain video production room and equipment.
* Keep detailed service records for all video equipment and schedule routine maintenance.
* Assist the Production Manager with budget and equipment upgrades for annual budgets.
* Assists in timely and effective response to requests received from internal departments, external organizations, agencies, departments and individuals; maintains the integrity of the department and Boyd Gaming in all forms of communication and personal contacts.
Position Requirements:
* Bachelors Degree, past experience may substitute.
* 3 - 5 years comparable professional experience in the public assembly facility management industry
* Extensive and comprehensive computer and video technology training and knowledge in line with industry standards required for the job
* Superb people, leadership, oral and written communication, presentation, multi-tasking, organizational and team-building skills required.
* Must be able to operate forklifts, tractors, Zamboni, all types of lifts and other heavy equipment necessary to perform job tasks.
* Knowledgeable in the use of various equipment used in the arena event industry (ie: portable staging, ice systems, basketball floors and field turf).
* Detailed knowledge of camera operation, video room equipment and the software to support the video operations.
* Knowledgeable in various technical equipment to include sound boards, lighting boards and dimmers.
* Skilled in computer design programs and standard business software.
