The Enrollment Specialist may provide campus tours, assist with the application and onboarding experience, process applications and admission documents, assist with additional applications related to housing, scholarships, and federal and state aid, advise students on financial aid and payment options, and direct students to additional resources.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Enrollment Specialist will facilitate and execute the student enrollment process with high levels of accuracy and customer service. The Enrollment Specialist is a part of the college-wide comprehensive enrollment center and provides holistic service and support to assist students with all enrollment needs for the purpose of eliminating enrollment barriers, building positive relationships, and promoting student success. The Enrollment Specialist may provide campus tours, assist with the application and onboarding experience, process applications and admission documents, assist with additional applications related to housing, scholarships, and federal and state aid, advise students on financial aid and payment options, and direct students to additional resources.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Experience in the following areas is strongly preferred but not required: two or more years in higher education or student services.
  • The Enrollment Specialist must deliver outstanding and unwavering customer service to prospective and current students and all internal and external constituents.
  • The Enrollment Specialist must have advanced oral and written communication skills and be able to effectively communicate in person, on the phone, by email, and virtually. Candidates selected for an interview will be required to type a written communication based on a provided prompt during the interview.
  • The Enrollment Specialist must have advanced computer skills and have the ability to learn quickly. Using technology and analyzing student data is expected on a daily basis in a variety of platforms, including but not limited to Workday, Colleague, My.Hinds, SoftDocs, Sharepoint, and all Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Office 365 Forms, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The Enrollment Specialist must observe extended office hours established for peak enrollment seasons and be able to travel to different campuses when needed.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor's degree is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following.

Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.

  • Represent Hinds Community College at all times in such a manner that the College's reputation is promoted and maintained at the highest level of professionalism and positivity.
  • Provide outstanding, high-quality, and unwavering customer service at all times.
  • Work with the Enrollment Services team to ensure a systematic and comprehensive enrollment strategy.
  • Build relationships with all faculty and staff to collaborate and successfully meet the needs of students.
  • Assist students with enrollment tasks, including but not limited to:
    • applying for admission
    • completing onboarding
    • submitting admission requirements
    • applying for housing
    • logging into My.Hinds and Navigator
    • accessing Hinds email
    • applying for all types of financial aid
    • submitting federal aid verification documents
    • creating payment plans
    • submitting payments
    • making schedule changes and course withdrawals
  • Review and process admission applications.
  • Review and process admission documents.
  • Apply and remove student holds.
  • Review residency documents and assign the correct Residency status.
  • Schedule and provide campus visits and tours to prospective students and families.
  • Assist at on-campus recruiting events.
  • Provide secondary validation of student data for the State Audit each semester.
  • Maintain knowledge of the College's programs and services to guide students and connect them to resources.
  • Maintain advanced computer skills and working knowledge of all technology platforms used by employees and students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
