Location:
CertainTeed,6040 U. S. Highway 42 East, Carrollton, KY 41008-9643. CertainTeed is next door to NAS (North American Steel). IF invited for an interview, candidates will come to Gate 2, back in parking only.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Operator is responsible for:
  • Assisting in activities throughout the manufacturing plant
  • Performing all duties in a safe and efficient manner following company safety standards
  • making equipment and process adjustments to ensure proper specifications for the finished product are met
  • Performing quality checks and recording results in production and quality computer database
  • Changing settings on equipment during changeovers
  • Performing routine cleaning, inspecting, and minor operator maintenance on equipment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Must be a team and customer service-oriented individual
  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner and follow all company safety standards
  • Forklift or mobile equipment experience a plus. Training provided.
  • Able to learn to operate automated plant manufacturing equipment and recognize deviations from standard operating parameters
  • Able to use windows computers and perform tests on manufactured product according to standard test methods using measurement devices such as tape measures and micrometers
  • Must be comfortable with completing written production forms
  • Must be able to interact, communicate and work effectively and professionally with all employees and management staff in a team-oriented environment
  • Past experience with TPM, WCM, Lean manufacturing, 5S is definitely an asset.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Able to recognize unsafe conditions or hazards in work area
  • Able to work 8 or 12 hour shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Able to maintain a high standard for housekeeping in work area

Quals--
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • A high school diploma and some post-secondary education preferred

PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Past experience with TPM, WCM, Lean manufacturing, 5S is definitely an asset
  • Able to use Windows computers and perform tests on manufactured products according to standard test methods using measurement devices such as tape measures and micrometers

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment with limited HVAC, concrete floors, and exposure to industrial noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature changes.
  • Normal plant operation is 24 hours, 7 days a week and work hours may vary depending on business needs.
  • Shift work that may require long hours, and weekend and holiday work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards whenever engineered methods of reducing hazards or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated
  • Perform tasks that require extensive and rigorous walking, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling, gripping, stair, and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain and occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs.
  • May require long periods of walking, and standing, in non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Must be able to spend a significant amount of time on the plant floor.
