The LRE program paraprofessional will assist with the educational development of children by ways of small group or one-on-one instructional and/or non-instructional support in a special education setting.

School Year Calendar

HOURLY WAGE:
$16.00/hr

HOURS:
M-F: 7:30AM - 2:30 PM with duty free lunch (6.5 hr/day)

ACCOUNTABILITY:
LRE Program paraprofessionals will be under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher but primarily responsible to the building principal.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education Requirements:
    1. Associates Degree; OR
    2. 60+ credit hours from a degree granting college/university; OR
    3. High school diploma WITH successful passage of the Paraprofessional ETS Assessment*
  • Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), preferred but not required
  • Parental experience desired but not required
  • Ability to work well with children and adults
  • Maintain a general interest in helping children in their educational process
  • Calm and patient demeanor

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Will need to provide non-instructional support of student
  • Assist in supervision of students
  • Provide academic, one to one support for students
  • Provide individual and small group instruction, when applicable
  • Demonstrate initiative and creativity with student(s) and their program
  • Demonstrate understanding of student's problems, including medical needs; follow medical protocol as directed
  • May need to provide non-instructional health and behavior support of students as outlined in IEP
  • Adhere to district health and safety procedures
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the principal
