The Surgical Robotics Lab at Rowan University is currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to contribute to our team's work in advancing a surgical robotic system tailored for orthopedic applications. Candidates should possess previous experience in robotics, encompassing both design and programming skills. Familiarity with haptics and image-guided navigation is strongly preferred. The position duration can be extended up to 4 years, upon satisfactory performance. We offer a competitive salary of $65,000, with benefits including healthcare and retirement plans.


**Primary Responsibilities:**


  • Design and develop our next-generation robotic system.
  • Define clinical and engineering design parameters.
  • Create surgical workflow procedures.
  • Develop control algorithms utilizing C++.
  • Employ SolidWorks for CAD design.
  • Implement path-planning algorithms.
  • Conduct experimental and pre-clinical testing.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members.
  • Gather, analyze, and publish data in reputable academic journals and conferences.
  • Explore advancements in haptics, navigation, VR, image-guided algorithms, and machine learning.


**Minimum Requirements:**


  • Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • 1+ year experience in Robotics, Navigation, Control, Haptics, VR, or Machine Learning.
  • 1+ year experience in C++, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • 1+ year expereince with CAD design using SolidWorks.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills for cross-group collaboration.
  • Track record of publications in relevant technical fields.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and conduct experiments accurately.


**Preferred Qualifications:**


  • 3+ years of experience in C++, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • 3+ years of software development experience in Robotics, Navigation, Control, Haptics, VR, or Machine Learning.
  • 3+ years of experience with SolidWorks for CAD design.
  • Familiarity with database and data management systems.
  • Experience with Linux environments.
  • Publications in prestigious journals and conferences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in git and version control systems.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects with evolving timelines, prioritizing effectively.
