INTRODUCTION: Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires. Candidates possessing the strongest skills and experience for this position will be forwarded to the hiring department for further evaluation and to determine who will be invited to the formal interview process. The candidate hired will be required to pass a drug screening, background check and may be required to pass a job-related physical evaluation.

Hours of Work: 4/10's, 7am-6pm, Mon-Thurs.

The ideal candidate will have experience installing, configuring, and administering applications at the server level in a collaborative team environment. Will have previously worked in and provided technical support to a 24/7 contact center with over 100 agents; have knowledge of contact center operations and the various applications used throughout. Will have the ability to monitor system resource usage on servers and knows how to examine application and system logs to identify root cause of an issue. Is knowledgeable with querying and capturing output from Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases; have awareness of security protocols and best practices. Will have the ability to communicate and collaborate with other IT teams, vendors, and business partners. Communicates issues clearly and concisely; will stay abreast of technology evolution and potential impacts to the organization; understands the value of providing a world class customer service experience.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under supervision, performs a variety of responsible duties in the administration of applications in the District's application infrastructure; participates in installing, configuring, testing and deploying applications in test and production environments; analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves application performance problems, errors and failures; develops and maintains documentation of application administration processes in the internal knowledgebase application; performs related duties as assigned.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:
Principles, methods and best practices for installation, configuration, testing and administration of enterprise and business function applications including performance diagnostics and tuning, application recovery and change management/version control tools and methods; principles of software life cycle management; systems analysis principles and software development and maintenance tools and utilities; principles and practices of server and database/data storage administration in a multiplatform, Windows/Unix environment as they apply to assigned applications administration responsibilities; systems integration concepts, methods and practices; applicable scripting languages including SQL, PowerShell and Perl; principles and practices of applications troubleshooting; web based technologies; customer relationship management concepts and practices; principles and practices of sound business communications; standard business software including word processing, spreadsheet, database and flow charting applications.

Ability to:
Perform basic application installation, configuration, testing and administration tasks; plan and perform basic testing and installation of upgrades, patches, releases and fixes, ensuring they operate correctly and are compatible with other applications, systems and business processes; balance responsibilities for multiple activities to ensure timely, high-quality results; maintain integrity and security of the production environment in compliance with IT policies, standards and protocols; apply critical thinking skills to reach sound, logical conclusions in researching technology issues and analyzing problems and alternatives; perform application troubleshooting to resolve standard to difficult applications problems, errors and failures; communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; prepare clear, concise and accurate documentation and other written materials; exercise sound judgment within IT policies, standards and protocols; keep technical skills current to meet continuing work responsibilities; use tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive, complex and/or confidential issues and situations; establish and maintain highly effective, customer-focused and collaborative working relationships with all levels of managers, customers, other IT staff, consultants, vendors and others encountered in the course of work.

Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in information technology, computer science, business administration or a closely related field; and at least one year of information technology experience involving applications administration, software development, systems administration, database administration or a related specialty; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in a government or public utility setting with applications similar to those administered by the District is highly desirable.
