**Description**

Summit Credit Union, the leading mortgage lender, has an exciting opportunity to join our mortgage team as a Sales Manager. In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the member-facing First Mortgages loan team, including Mortgage Loan Officers (MLOs) and Mortgage Processors. This position is responsible for meeting the daily volume, service & sales levels as well as responsible to maintain compliance and investor eligibility. The Sales Manager is the residential lending sales expert in development, implementation, & administration of growth strategies for new and existing homeowners. This position supports Summit Credit Unions mission & vision by training MLOs to serve as trusted financial advisors as they work on home purchases and refinances, while identifying cross selling options with the Mortgage Processors. This position will partner with internal departments to enhance the member experience, while increasing sales results. This position will plan and participate in real estate business development activities.

**E****ssential Functions**

- Develop and lead assigned mortgage teams.

- Establish individual and team goals and ensure measurements are in place to track progress, including accountability of scorecard metrics, sales goals and executed agreements.

- Provide timely, ongoing and consistent direction, performance coaching and honest feedback to team. This includes development on ongoing training and development plans for all department members.

- Address performance issues and develop corrective action plans, as needed.

- Work with VP- Mortgage Lending, AVP-Mortgage Sales Operations and Human Resources in the interview and hiring process for staff.

- Lead and coordinate the onboarding and training of new team members.

- Coordinate staff scheduling ensuring service standards are not compromised.

- Assist and support staff as needed, particularly in complex situations.

- Provide support in a variety of ways, including but not limited to:

- Support staff handling member inquiries and problems.

- Handle and resolve complex member situations.

- Ensure staff have the tools, resources and training to effectively serve members.

- Develop service standards to improve the members experience.

- Negotiate solutions and act as a liaison with members, when necessary.

- Serve as an information resource to all employees regarding products and procedures.

- Assist as necessary in various regulatory examinations and required audits.

- Provide guidance to direct reports on secondary guideline updates, product knowledge, sales and compliance.

- Manage the mortgage team.

- Develop sales strength amongst MLOs and Mortgage Processors to deliver desired results.

- Ensure effective application and referral pipeline management staff to continuously increase the pull through ratio of applications entered.

- Coach MLOs to develop and sustain outside sources for real estate loans through outreach activities, active participation in community events and SCU sponsored events.

- Coach team on upsell opportunities, cross-sell techniques and onboarding of new mortgage members.

- Provide feedback and direction to team to ensure service standards are consistently followed.

- Compile and ensure accuracy of commission reports bi-weekly and submit information to payroll in timely manner.

- Approve timesheets, expense reports, invoices, etc., and fulfill any administrative duties as needed for the team

- Orchestrate member and community education.

- Develop and implement homebuyer seminars or other educational opportunities needed by membership, in conjunction with Marketing and Financial Education.

- Schedule, monitor and evaluate seminar effectiveness through direct observation, administration of event evaluations and attendance.

- Distribute generated seminar leads to MLOs and ensure lead follow up

- In collaboration with marketing, communicate with members and employees of upcoming events and seminars.

- Identify new community outreach opportunities and strengthen existing community relationships.

- Serve on external organization committees and boards.

- Collaborate with the mortgage leadership team and other SCU Departments.

- Participate in establishing goals, product development and other mortgage planning activities.

- Commit to improving mortgage lending effectiveness in all areas that participate in the mortgage process. Assist in the review, recommendation an implementation of new vendors.

- Provide development, coaching, performance and behavior feedback, guidance and direction to help create a cohesive and successful team across departments.

- Provide open and transparent communication with team members and departments across the organization.

- Commit to the excellence of others through actions that support the growth and development that optimize the talent of individual team members, the mortgage team, and SCU as a whole.

- Collaborate with Senior Learning & Development Specialist-Mortgages on knowledge needs and identify external sources, as appropriate, to support learning and growth.

- In partnership with marketing, ensure that our brand, sales efforts and support tools are aligned for each market served, as well as assist with new home loan product roll-outs, process changes and/or implementations.

- Collaborate with retail on partnership improvements, referral handoffs, strategic growth opportunity support, etc.

- Process improvement

- Identify and implement new programs and/or updated program characteristics.

- Perform ongoing maintenance and review of processes and procedures to identify strategies for potential changes.

- Recommend and implement, in a timely manner, any changes needed.

- Ensure current knowledge of technology options and available technology is being used to its fullest potential.

**Job Specifications**

- Associate degree in a business related field, or equivalent knowledge required; college degree preferred.

- A minimum of 5 years mortgage origination experience (or equivalent experience in other areas of a mortgage lending function) in a retail lending environment

- A minimum of 3 5 years management experience.

- Experience with loan products - 1st mortgages, 2nd mortgages, WHEDA, construction loans, lot loans, and consumer loan products, preferably to include processing and underwriting, in addition to mortgage origination.

- Ability to provide needs-based financial consultation to a diverse membership.

- Knowledge of secondary market programs and requirements.

- Strong knowledge of the mortgage industry underwriting guidelines and regulations.

- Excellent listening, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.

- Experience working with mortgage lending systems required.

- Strong organizational skills required.

- Must travel to various branches and make outside sales calls on a regular basis.

- Must be able to obtain a NMLS number
