Culmen is seeking an Industrial Hygiene and Safety Specialist to work on site for the U.S. Department of State, Office of Facilities Management (FMS) in Washington D.C. This role involves performing industrial hygiene and safety services, which include the identification, monitoring, and recommendation of solutions for a wide array of hygiene and safety concerns. It also entails providing occupational safety and health training on topics such as back safety, lifting techniques, pallet jack operation, ergonomics, fall protection, lead hazards, hazardous noise, and Hazard Communication (HazCom). Additionally, it supports the Industrial Hygiene and Safety program by: - Conducting safety evaluations of processes and facilities, indoor air quality surveys, and mold investigations. - Carrying out ventilation assessments, lead sampling for range personnel and surface contamination, and responding to water intrusion incidents. - Performing assessments of hazardous noise, lighting levels, and thermal comfort parameters, as well as other necessary industrial hygiene sampling and evaluations. - Determining the risks associated with mail or unidentified powder incidents using field testing equipment like radiation survey meters, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and infrared spectroscopy. - Identifying instances of noncompliance, formulating corrective action plans, and estimating associated costs. - Reviewing construction safety measures. Basic Qualifications: 5+ years experience as an Industrial Hygiene and Safety Specialist. Experience providing ergonomic evaluations. Experience in providing EHS support for a large, multi-worksite agency with a blended workforce of contractors and direct hires.
