PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
Mine Operations Supervisor helps manages a crew of approximately sixty plus equipment operators and all associated mining-related activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Proactively coordinates activities and resources in conjunction with other departments in order to comply with priorities and overall objectives of the mine plan.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Follow safe work procedures and best practices.
* Assists in managing and supervising a Mine Operations crew.
* Support and assist the Senior Supervisors in their work.
* Maintain a clean work environment.
* Train others.
* Participate in job planning.
* Participate in meetings and discussions.
* Be a role model to others in safe behavior.
* Be willing and enthusiastic.
* Willingness to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of KGHM.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent.
* A minimum of 3 to 5 years mine operations or construction experience preferably in an open pit mine environment or large earthmoving excavation environment.
* 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
* Valid Driver's License.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
* A BS degree in Mine Engineering or other related technical field preferred. Equivalent years of related experience can substitute for the Engineering degree requirement.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
* Occasionally for training and development.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Handle disciplinary action within the operations department.
* Is responsible for quality and quantity of work performed by subordinates.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Heavy: Exerting 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are greater than that required for Light Work.
