Taxa is a biotechnology startup founded to develop radically improved active ingredients in some of the biggest verticals in personal care. We aim to accomplish this by recoding diverse sets of microorganisms and steering resident communities away from performing undesirable metabolic functions.


The Opportunity


We are seeking a skilled scientific thinker to manage a variety of general microbiology workflows, with a focus on synthetic biology. Top candidates have extensive training in microbiology and a proven track record of engineering non-model microbes.


Requirements


5+ years of wet lab microbiology experience.

US Citizenship

Willingness to work on-site at our San Francisco, California headquarters with late night working hours 1-2 times per week.


Things that help


Experience with laboratory organization, media preparation, microbial liquid culture, cloning, Sanger sequencing, strain banking, transformations, handling of non-model microbes, engineering non-model microbes, RMS bypass, CRISPR base editing, CRISPR prime editing, HR, recombineering, and lyophilization.

Scientific independence. Experience adapting existing protocols for novel use cases. An eagerness to lead experimental design.
