Breakwater Strategy, a boutique strategic communications and insights agency, is seeking an entrepreneurial and energetic professional with a commitment to developing and executing powerful and creative communications strategies for a range of clients including those at the nexus of emergent technologies and regulation.
Candidates who have 5-8 years of relevant experience (and/or commensurate postgraduate education) are best-suited for this position at Breakwater. We re open to skilled communicators and strategic thinkers of all career/life paths, however nonlinear.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Craft and present messaging, creative or media outreach strategies and tactics to a diverse set of clients in tech, financial services, media, health/wellness, etc.
- Become an expert in key issues, policies and trends affecting clients businesses
- Develop strong working relationships and serve as primary day-to-day contact with clients
- Be viewed by the client as responsive, helpful and critical to the account
- Identify, research, author and manage new business opportunities, presentations and proposals
- Be a respected leader with peers and mentor to more junior staff members
ATTRIBUTES
- A BA/BS degree with 5-8 years of relevant experience, preferably in-house for a large company or corporation; at a communications agency; or in politics, either on the Hill, in an agency or on a campaign
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a primary account lead, effectively managing both internal teams and clients on small and medium accounts
- Strong project management skills on large accounts including developing workplans, managing timelines, staffing and budgets
- Excellent writing, editing, presentation and research skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work and synthesize complex issues into insights and trends under tight timelines
- Experience with polling or market research including surveys and focus groups a plus
