**JOB SUMMARY**

Under the direct supervision of the Security Captain and/or Sergeant, officers provide protection of work sites, personnel, and assets from events such as trespassing, theft, vandalism, harassment, assault, and other disruptive incidents at the Marathon Refinery in Anacortes, WA. Performing access control is a core function of this position.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

* High school diploma or GED

* Ability to speak, write, and comprehend English

* Minimum of 19 years of age

* Valid drivers license

* Prior work experience in private security, military service, law enforcement, corrections, or a related field

* Able to obtain a First Aid/CPR Certification

* Able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)

* Able to obtain a State of Washington Security Officer license

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

* Operate a motor vehicle during both the day and night in a variety of settings and varying weather conditions

* Perform searches of people, vehicles and buildings

* Confront suspicious persons, assess intentions, and take action as appropriate

* Effectively and coherently communicate over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications

* Utilize clear and appropriate communication skills when communicating with people

* Write incident reports

* Ability to use computers with common office related software

* Read, comprehend, and employ policies and procedures

* Maintain composure and control of the situation

* Observe, recall, and distinguish characteristics of persons, suspects, automobiles, location and property

* Willingness to perform other duties as required

* Willingness to work at various positions or posts and rotate work shifts as required

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**

Officers will be working in and around an oil refinery.
