We are looking for Staff Design Project Manager I's to join our team in the Portland, OR area.

The Staff Design Project Manager provides project related engineering and work order management for small to large scale design projects within an assigned region, division, or project type and is accountable for all aspects of each project's success. This position will require travel to the field to take photos, measurements, and create a field sketch. The candidate should be familiar with Microsoft Excel to create project material list in provided Excel workbook and create prelim sketch using Adobe/Bluebeam. This position will require review of job sketches and necessary forms pertaining to the project type. Candidate must be comfortable with corresponding with client(s) internal departments, members of public, and field/crew personnel in person, phone, and/or email. This position will involve familiarity of Power Overhead & Underground Design, Construction standards, Electrical Service, NESC and Joint Use Requirements. Projects vary in size and scope from in or at the substation to customers meterbases. Project types may include: overhead service re-routes, overhead reconductoring, overhead to underground conversions, underground power replacements, capital system improvements, etc.

This role will primarily be involved in developing project scope, constructability, final engineering review and billing deliverables for the client as well as determining additional resources, adhering to timelines and managing budgets to ensure technical and safety expectations are realized to meet both, customers and Henkels & McCoys specifications and policies.



Responsibilities:
  • Provide sound engineering practices in the completion of assigned work orders to ensure utility procedures and standards meet compliance
  • Managing of multiple projects with concurrent deadlines
  • Collaborative interaction with the project team, vendors, the client, and its customers to meet the requirements for each project
  • Responsible for quality review of all assigned work orders and estimates for accuracy
  • Occasional evening and offsite meetings or involvement in storm duty, company, community, or conferences as required


Qualifications:
  • Experience working in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, Autodesk AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Adobe Pro
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively as well as balance multiple projects by prioritizing while working under a deadline
  • Must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and be able to problem solve
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups of people
  • Valid driving License required
  • Proficient utilizing pole loading structural analysis software

Minimum Educational Background:

Certificate in Project Management, Construction Management, Business or bachelors degree in engineering is preferred.

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience:

2-7 years of work experience in the utility industry or a minimum of 5-7 years of work experience in a related industry

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in an office environment and in the field. Travel to field locations via automobile will be necessary and exposure to outdoor conditions. The employee will be required to regularly sit or stand and have the ability to lift up to twenty-five pounds. Vision requirements include close vision and involves frequent use of computers and related equipment.
