Job Summary:

The Pittsfield EEC Licensed Childcare Lead Teacher/Teacher plays a crucial role in providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for young learners in our childcare facility. The Lead Teacher/Teacher will collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans, supervise children's activities, and ensure compliance with state licensing regulations. Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement developmentally appropriate and engaging lesson plans that support the individual needs and interests of each child.

2. Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment to foster children's physical, intellectual, and emotional growth.

3. Provide age-appropriate guidance and support to children, promoting positive behavior and social skills development.

4. Observe children and assess their developmental progress regularly, documenting observations and maintaining accurate records.

5. Communicate effectively with parents, presenting timely updates on their child's progress, behavior, and milestones.

6. Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to plan and organize classroom activities, field trips, and special events.

7. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure their safety and well-being.

8. Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly classroom environment, including arranging equipment, supplies, and materials.

9. Adhere to all licensing regulations, policies, and procedures set forth by the Pittsfield Early Education and Care (EEC) department.

10. Participate in professional development opportunities and stay updated on industry best practices, new teaching methodologies, and early childhood education trends.

11. Assist in the coordination and preparation of materials and resources necessary for daily activities and curriculum implementation.

12. Serve as a positive role model for children, volunteers, and assistant teachers, fostering a friendly, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere.

Requirements:

1. EEC Lead Teacher certification or EEC Teacher certification in a group care setting.

2. High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.

3. Proven experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting, preferably as a Lead Teacher or Teacher.

4. In-depth knowledge of child development theories, teaching methodologies, and best practices in early childhood education.

5. Strong communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.

6. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and children of diverse backgrounds.

7. Familiarity with Massachusetts licensing regulations and a commitment to maintaining compliance.

8. First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

9. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and sit on the floor or at child-sized furniture for extended periods.

10. A genuine passion for working with young children, dedication to their growth and development, and enthusiasm for creating a positive learning environment.
